Germany have been boosted ahead of the crucial Group B match against
Austria with the news that Lukas Podolski and Philipp Lahm will be fit
to start.
Podolski (ankle) and Lahm (calf) take part but Marcell Jansen
(shoulder) and Bastian Schweinsteiger (suspension) will miss a game
Germany must not lose.
Austria need a win to stand any chance of progressing but are without their suspended centre-back Sebastian Proedl.
Proedl could be replaced by Martin Hiden, who would win his 50th cap.
Austria coach Josef Hickersberger is likely to desploy Rene Aufhauser to mark Germany playmaker Michael Ballack.
Victory for the co-hosts would see them reach the quarter-finals if Poland fail to beat Croatia in the group's other match.

The match in Basel bears no significance result wise. Actually, after
two defeats Switzerland were eliminated while Portugal already
confirmed the first place in the group so Scolari will use the match to
rest his key players thus preparing them for the quarterfinals.
Without
having many problems Portugal beat Turkey and Czech Republic so it is
clear that they have a lot of reserves. We have already written about
the carnival atmosphere internationals train in and that the fans have
never in history been so optimistic. Of course, this won’t affect the
players –coach Scolari is enough of a guarantee that the players will
have a serious approach.
Switzerland deserved more; they were left in
tears after Turkey beat them at St Jacobs. Just like in the first match
against Czech they didn’t have luck so after first two matches they
said goodbye to their dreams of the second round. They are playing for
honour and history.
Interestingly Switzerland have never won a match in
the final tournaments in Europe.

vs
Decisive game in Geneva will see Czech Republic and Turkey in direct
duel solving the question of who will join Portugal in the
quarterfinals. It is a rare situation that wee see two squads about to
play the key game to be equal not just in points but also in goal
difference and in the number of conceded and scored goals.
In other
words this means that the penalties will decide in case they draw. Both
sides fear such an outcome, the Czech have a better keeper but this
doesn’t have to mean anything. Turkey are encouraged by the Champions
League round of 16 when national squad keeper Volkan Demirel took
Fenerbahce to the quarterfinals after a successful penalties series
against Spanish Seville.
We should mention that these two sides can be
optimistic if we take a look at their performance so far in the
tournament – both seem to be in form. Before the beginning of the
championship, Czech Republic were considered favourites but we think
that we made a mistake underestimating the Turks.
Fatih Terim’s side
rose form the ashes in the second half against Switzerland and got back
in the game.

Greece look set to make changes to their 5-3-2
formation as their look to bounce back from defeat against Sweden and
get their Euro campaign on track.
Yannis Amanatidis or Nikos Liberopoulos could start as a third striker, meaning no place for stopper Paraskevas Antzas.
Russia's struggling striker Roman Pavlyuchenko returned to training on Friday and could play.
Pavlyuchenko, who injured his thigh against Spain, was missing from a practice session on Thursday.
He appeared to be moving freely during the part of
training open to the media on Friday and coach Guus Hiddink said he
would make a decision over his fitness on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Manchester City striker Georgios Samaras could again find himself on the bench for defending champions Greece.
Defeat for either side would end their hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals.
