Diego Milito and Sergio García will both be sold this summer by
Real Zaragoza in order to help the club manage their debts after being
relegated to la Segunda at the weekend.
Los Maños are alreday facing up to the reality of their situation and
will look to obtain the biggest fees that they can for the two
forwards, both of whom have been linked to Spanish and foreign clubs.
With
a debt of around €76m, half of that long-term, the sale of Milito, who
has a €100m buy-out clause in contract, should see between €15m and
€20m being received.
The Argentinian striker, who stands at
1.83m and is being coveted by Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and
even Barcelona, is still widely respected despite having a poor second
half to the campaign.
Sergio García could command a fee of
between €8m and €10m, despite having an €18m release clause, which
would represent good business on a player that they paid just €1.5m for
from Barcelona.
Other decisions have been taken with Albert Celades Luis Carlos
Cuuartero and Miguel not having their contracts renewed, but David
Generelo will be asked to stay on.
The majority of the rest of
the squad will be kept even though the wage packets of players such as
Roberto Fabian Ayala, Pablo Aimar, Francelino Matuzalem, Peter Luccin
and Francisco Pavón will make an immediate return to the top flight
paramount.
One player that will certainly not be playing for
Zaragoza next term is Ricardo Oliveira because the club's descent means
that they will not be taking up their purchase option from AC Milan.
