Parma have announced that Héctor Cúper has been sacked as first team coach after just two months in charge of the Ducali...
An official statement on the club's website read:
"Società
Parma FC SpA announces today that it has removed Mr. Hector Cuper from
the office of first team coach of Parma FC. To him - and his deputy
Gustavo Siviero - we give thanks for his efforts, competence and
seriousnses. The task of taking the first team is entrusted to Mr.
Andrea Manzo, the coach of Parma FC's youth team. He will be on the
bench for the Sunday 18th May 2008 match against Inter."
Cüper's reign at the Ennio Tardini lasted two months and one day, comprising a ten-match spell.
He
was hired on March 11th with the goal of keeping Parma in the top
flight after Domenico Di Carlo had guided them to the lower quarter of
the table.
However, Cúper has racked up just two wins and three draws with the
Parmesan outfit, meaning that they are now two points away from safety
with just one game to go.
That match is against title-chasing Inter, who themselves need all three points to guarantee the title.
Parma have been in Serie A since 1990, having weathered financial scandal in recent years.
As for Cúper, this was his first job since being sacked after a brief spell in charge of Spanish side Real Betis last year.
