Bologna have been promoted to Serie A following their narrow 1-0
win over local rivals Pisa. Chievo also return to the big time after
their 2-2 with Bari as the Serie B season came to a close.
The flying donkeys won the Serie
B championship and Bologna
finish as runners up.
The Rossoblu took the lead against Pisa when Fava was fouled inside the box. Massimo
Marazzina stepped up and ensured his side were playing in Serie A next season.
Chievo just needed a point against
Bari at the Stadio
Bentegodi and they got it following their 2-2 draw with the Salentini and thus the
Gialloblu return to Serie A.
The Flying Donkeys were relegated last season but they
have wasted no time in returning to the top-flight. Bologna on the other hand have
been in Serie B for the last three seasons and no doubt Rossoblu fans will be delighted with their well
deserved return.
Lecce’s win against Vicenza was
not enough and thus they go into the play-off on Wednesday against Pisa. Brescia will play Albinoleffe in the other play-off
also on Wednesday and then the return legs will be played next Sunday.
Meanwhile, there was bad news for
Avellino, Ravenna,
Spezia and Cesena
who were all relegated to Serie C.
